Advanced Parkinson's. With Severe On & Off Periods With Extreme Pain. Anyone Had Surgery For The Duodopa Pump? Or Switched To Neupro?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

On and off periods are causing horrible pain that can last for hours with rigidity. Pain is being treating with diaulid but it doesn't help much with the pain. Doctor is suggesting to have surgery so the levodopa is directly delivered into the upper intestine. It's called Duodopa. I am wondering if anyone had similar pain symptoms and has tried Duodopa. Or has switched to the Neupro patch to help.

My husband was just offered the option to have the procedure for the Duodopa pump and I'm excited to hear that people have had good responses of this method of dispensing levodopa/cardiopa. His off times are getting worse - he currently takes Rytary 3 capsules 4 x's a day and needs to change his dosage closer together, which then causes dyskenisa. Any additional feedback on Duodopa is appreciated.
