Shortness of breath can come from muscles being tight and stiff. Try deep breathing exercises-

Missy, that is why websites like this one are so important! I think many medical professionals think that if they mention possible symptoms that haven't been discussed they may put ideas into our heads. I have learned to take note of anything that is different (I keep running notes for my neurologist, adding my concern and the date - by the time I actually have my visit with the doctor I would have forgotten all about these random things if I hadn't written them down!), and I ask her if these things are PD related. I also have learned quite a bit by listening to the webinars that the Michael J. Fox Foundation and the National Parkinson's Foundation do. They are extremely informative.

Around the same time my PD was diagnosed, my hair started getting thin. Every time I brushed my hair, the brush was full of hair! I mentioned it to my neurologist, who suggested that I take Biotin which does not require a prescription. What a difference. No more thinning hair. You could ask your doctor about it.

I had very thick hair and originally put the hair loss to stress and things that had happened over the last 12 months only to be told by the Neurologist that this can be quiet common in people with PD. So now have had it cut short and easy to manage, it is starting to grow back but not as thick. Pam

Hi Marlene, I am also an asthmatic and it is now under control. I believe as we get older and go through menopause this can cause our hair to thin a little. It's a hormone thing. Also, some medications can have this side effect plus I am afraid, getting older. I had lovely hair when I was in my teens and twenties until I got pregnant with my son. I lost most of my natural wave and thickness. (Hormones) Then when menopause came along, my almost lovely hair got thinner. I wish I could blame PD for this but maybe this time I can't. Marlene, I don't think we will go completely balled. If we do there are some lovely hats out there. Trouble is, I am not a hat person. Ha! XX
