Do We Have Any Welders Out There That Have PD Diagnosis ?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was reading out a study today regarding how they found a connection between the "metallic vaporization" that occurs when someone is welding various metal items together.. Then it hit me, of how such a task, could release a variety of toxic and heavy metals ! And with your face and nose being so close to the welding site, small wonder... Any comments from welders here ??

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, I know that OSHA has Government guidelines as to what is considered safe employee exposure levels of all chemicals. Though their safe levels and the medical fields safe levels can differ greatly. Unfortunately, many businesses have figured out that it is better to face the OSHA fine (and cheaper) for overexposure and continue production than to enforce protocols and cut production. Pretty sad that employees lives/health seem to matter so little.

I think there was a study done back in 1980's about a link to PD in person's who welded. Especially welders working in automotive industry on radiators. High numbers of people were reporting PD.

I was a machinist for 14-years and was right next to the welding shop. Prior to that, I worked in an underground lead/zinc mine.

Good point Alan. There are many hidden chemicals and vapours - yes stay away from underarm deodorants with aluminium - there are some good ones out there without it.
