My husband is 71 and was diagnosed with PD 11 years ago. Neuro now has recommended Duopa and insertion of PegJ tube with pump. He has so many ON and OFF times during one day that it makes it almost impossible to plan on leaving the house. He currently takes Stalevo 75mg 5 times a day along with Azilect and Ropinerole. If anyone is on Duopa, how long did it take to titrate correct dose to stop ON and OFF episodes? We live in North GA.
Hello my husband has the duopa pump had tube inserted three weeks ago, once he was cleared started titration and he went in for three visits and after his last visit they had gotten the dose correct for him, I can not tell you how this has changed our life prior to pump my husband was pretty much housebound, to me I would have to say it is close to a miracle, he now is driving again walk all day, able to help around the house and is having no side effects, which he was having prior to this, it has changed the way he looks and also helped with his speech. We are so happy he decided to have it done, the surgery went very well no complications there. Also the support you get from the duo connected is excellent and also the pharmacy. If you have any question please let me know. We have planned a trip to see family that we could not consider a year ago.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member: I cannot tell you how happy I am that you shared your experience with the Duopa pump. I will definitely share this with my husband and hopefully this will encourage him to make a decision. Continued success and happy for you. I, also, would love to visit family in the Northeast, but have not traveled in a few years. Bless you and your husband. Carlene
I have no experience with Duopa, however, I am sorry your husband is having so much difficulty with time off.
I am having a hard time deciding weather to go ahead with the
Dupa Pump. It seems a bit drastic , but not taken pills for 18 hours sounds good to me. I have a problem with having to wear the pump, disconnecting and connecting. Thank you for your encouragement.
