there is a web site called speak up for parkinson its only for ipads its free
I struggle with the same problem. I often avoid large crowds - eating out at off hours, hurrying out of church because I can't be heard, avoiding social invitations. It's so terribly to be talking as loudly as I can and still have to repeat it.
@Norma- One PD patient that I met has been singing, trying to make each song louder and louder. Record your voice before you start and maybe a week later and see if it is starting to help. Most phones have a voice recorder in them. Keep exercising those muscles as much as you can. My step father was not into singing, but he loved the marching rhythms that you see in movies for boot camp, and when men are marching just to breakup the time. It help him. :) Wishing you well.
I have the same problem. It is not my accent because people had no trouble understanding me before I had PD. It seems my voice had grown softer and the volume is lower than before. I tried speech therapy and it improves the volume of my voice, but people still could not seem to understand me. I also observed this in my fellow support group especially people of my age group with PD..
I can not be heard too, it sucks. It does come and go so that's a good thing.
