I feel that I have a constriction in my throat when I swallow bites of bread, steak, or chicken. I was tested with a barium swallowing exercise with different sizes of apple and X-rayed . Nothing was found ,but larger food items still hang in my throat and only pass after repeated swallows. I'm afraid someday it will not pass and I can't breath. Is this due to PD ?
Oh yes!! This is my problem too. I had a scope before PD dx and they found nothing. Quite by accident i found if I drink ice cold water with my meal is eases the constriction. Sorry for the excitement but I thought I was the only one eith this problem. One meal I forgot the water and my husband ran to get it but when i drank it, it didnt go down and I asperated on the water and eas choking until my future son in law who is a policeman did the heimlach maneuver on me in 2 pumps got the water up and saved my life. Now I never have a meal without ice water.
Yes, me too! I noticed the problem about 2 years before diagnosis. I find I now have to chew food into a paste.
Yes I too have that problem and on a couple of occasions have nearly choked. which was quite frightening. my Dentist said I could have a condition called dry mouth syndrome. He gave me a tube of gel called Bioxtra Moisturising gel which lubricates the mouth it has helped me and my mouth isn't quite so dry and I also drink a lot of water or juice throughout the day I have also started taking vitamin B12 .

I do have problem with swallowing. I think this is due to Parkinson. I am also trying to eat a bit slower after, I read a post about how she overcome the problem of eating fast. Thank you. & God Bless.
