I recently had a UTI. Now only was the infection causing some discomfort, but the tremors increased. Can an infection cause the symptoms of PD to increase?
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member,
Jane, if you keep having a stubborn infection, try taking at least 2 bottles of a REALLY good probitic. They are to be taken after your antibiotic is finished. So, once your antibiotic is done, start your regime by taking one or two pill before your meals. See, once we take an antibiotic, it kills all the good flora in our guts that aid in fighting disease. Probotics replace the good flora. But if you take your probiotics and your antibiotic, the antibiotic will kill off the probiotics.
You can find probiotics on sale at your local health food store,I the refrigerator. The bottle should always be refrigerated to keep the cultures alive!
Any other questions, let me know.
Oh,yeah, I said 2 bottles because it takes a bit of time to build your system back up!

Any extra stress your body is experiencing makes symptoms worse.
with infections, usually body temperatures rise, so it makes sense to me that PD symptoms would be worse if you have a UTI... just like if it's 100 degrees outside and our PD meds are off due to hot weather...
I have had about 4 UTI's since April - it seems they keep coming back almost as soon as I finish a treatment of antibiodics to treat the UTI. Also had a bad yeast infection. I didn't notice any change to PD though, as my body is still getting acclimated to the Caridopa/Levadopa medication.
I don't know about infections. I have always had a sensitive stomach and have frequent digestion problems than can be caused by food or stress. When my stomach is upset I don't think my meds are properly absorbed as they don't work as well as they do when I am feeling fine.
Don't know if this post is helpful or not.
