This may sound a bit odd and don't ask how I came to this conclusion ;-) but I have noticed that when I'm struggling with rhythmic movements such as brushing my hair, brushing my teeth, or stirring food, if I wind my arm up vigorously as if I'm about to pitch a baseball, or run in place raising my knees really high as though I'm jumping double Dutch my symptoms temporarily disappear allowing me to move normally for around 30 seconds. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? It kind of… read more
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member I often (daily) do the same as you have mentioned when struggle with a particular movement...And, some days, it is tremendous how much better I feel after either a movement class or boxing...I had such difficulty with brushed/drying my hair I shaved it off!!! It was taking far to long to dry - bounce - dry - shake my arms out - dry again, and on & on it would go...I was also diagnosed by trail & error, with the PD Meds seeming to be an answer...Then I had a DATScan to confirm...It's tough because everyone's symptoms or side effects are so different, yet so similar, if that makes any sense... Are you not convinced??? Or are you not ready to accept??? In addition to Sinemet, do you take or do other things which are best for PD??? How does your body respond???
Yes to your question. Medicine is an art with some science ,PD is relatively new DX that is less than 100 years. The real reason behind the trial and error process we are facing, We are on the cutting edge and hopefully our outcomes will provide solutions for those coming behind us.
My cat at times thinks I've lost it as when I get like that I run in circles flapping my arms and in between doing jumping jacks! lol Yes, Movement is the key--I've been known to go up and down our 2 flights of stairs in a SAFE but fast jog.
I think adrenaline overrides my symptoms.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member I was "diagnosed" by both, but I use that word diagnose loosely to mean "we ran some tests and can't find a specific and definite cause of the symptoms, but since Sinemet makes you feel better, we'll just say it's idiopathic PD"....
I'm just not convinced
