I have read some bad things about Clonazepam and am trying to wean myself off the drug. This is a controlled substance, and would rather not take it. I found that I am having difficulty sleeping without it, and sometimes having difficulty sleeping with it.
Any advice? I am not due to see my Neurologist until the end of the year, so don't want to make an appointment just to change a medication.
i have ambien. 5 mg. i find that if i take half at bedtime - and then wake up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom the i take the other half and fall back asleep.. not drowsy in the morning
I take 1/2 a 0.5 Clonazepam (so 1/4 mg), I find it helps me stay asleep for much longer, giving me 6 - 8 hours of good quality sleep. Getting to sleep wasn't the issue, but before I was only getting 3 - 4 hours then struggling to try to get back to sleep and feeling horrible in the morning. I believe this is called Sleep Maintenance. Further its my belief that without the Clonazepam I wasn't achieving proper REM sleep, this is when the brain and the neurological systems rests and resets. Since this I find my PD symptoms MUCH less invasive.
I'm currently on the NeuPro Patch, 2 mg and its pretty good. Melatonin created all kinds of RLS symptoms and agitation. So for now its Clonazepam to sleep. Interested in the CBD oil, thats next.
Amazing..everyone reacts so differently. Rumor has it that it's not the best drug of abuse because it takes too long to get a reaction
I take 1 1/2 clon. 2x a day. 2 tab. both times, & I couldn't walk a sstraight line. I take it w/several other pills. The kids (druggies), tried to buy some of my pills @ work.! she refused, of course.
I take a lot of sleep meds. I fought it at first since it was something new and especially didn't like the idea of 'addictive' meds. My PD doc convinced me that I'd better get used to taking meds for the rest of my life with PD and that sleep disorders come with PD territory. I am no longer "losing sleep" over this issue, feeling no need to increase my sleep meds in the past 2 1/2 years, and do sleep so much better with the meds.
