I was chopping some leeks to freeze for the winter. All of a sudden I couldn't make my hand close over the cleaver. Is this what is meant by freezing?

Actually that was my first symptom about 4 years ago. I couldn't hold a cup of coffee and lost dexterity writing. Now after intense physical therapy I've gained back my strength and can write an type with ease. Exercise your hand and try to move your hand as much as you can. Good luck

My outpatient occupational therapist noticed the loss of strength and coordination in my hands plus the freezing. She started me on small squeezing exercises plus some coordination movements. Then I got a hand held Digi-flex #10-0743 finger/hand exerciser that can exercise the whole hand plus each individual finger. After getting proficient with that she then moved me to a Digi-flex #10-0744 finger/hand exerciser. I carry this with me quite frequently because it is small and I can use it many times a day. She also provided me with various colored stretch bands so I can stretch and strengthen my upper body. Finally I got a door pulley system so I can work at stretching my upper body to loosen up my muscles. I use these daily to try and get loose

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member. Hello. my name is Sterling and I'm here to welcome you you as a new member to MPT and also as a member of my team… Team sterling . My dear Maura. Would you please be so kind as to share your PD path with me. Your comment about finding new ways to do things was very intriguing and fascinating for me. Just that little sentence made me think about where I'm going… Where we're all going unless they find a cure for this beast that has been set loose inside us.

What I long for is the truth about what one is going through without worrying that they're going to bring us down or be a naysayer. I don't want fluff or trying to be positive....or even humor. PD is not good or is it positive in any way. But start with how you come up with other ways of doing things. I think that would be a good topic to start with. My best. Sterling
