can taking iron reduce sinemets effectiveness
Many people find that iron can severly impact on systems, including me, at least anecdotally. Eating red meat can be very problematic too. For me, beef and lamb absolutely slay me. This goes way beyond the "don't eat protein within an hour of the meds" advice, because it stops my pills working for up to 3 doses (i.e. for several hours) ... and the residual effects last for three days! Interesting, I recently discovered that there is such a thing as beef/lamb allergy... and 80% of people with this have been found to have been bitten by a tick... which is associated with Lymes Disease... which is very frequently misdiagnosed as PD!!!
Any type of meat and too much protein affects my meds. Even just plain eating too much does it. I will be "clicked off" for hours. I have used Apokin, which is an injection that you give yourself. It goes directly into the blood stream and doesn't have to go through the digestive system. It takes only 5-10 minutes to click in. I use it for emergencies. I can always count on it to get me to my next dose of meds. It is not a big deal. The needle is benign and easy to use. You might want to ask your doctor about it.
I was diagnosed about 15 months ago and since then, my appetite has decreased. I can only eat half my dinner, but very hungry a few hours later.
I’m not enjoying any kind of meat, though fish is easier to finish eating.
