We take a carpidopa/levodopa dose right before bedtime, but it hasn't helped my husband's legs stop twitching. It acts like restless leg syndrome but hasn't been formally diagnosed yet. It keeps him (and us) from sleeping soundly and for vey long. It happens when he's awake as well. Is there something that helps without side effects?
I manage the discomfort of restless legs with:
1. Sifrol, prescribed by my neurologist in increasing doses
2. Vitamin D
3. Extra socks and blankets
my doc has given me gabapentin for other things as well as restless legs and feet------it is a miracle----for the first time that i can remember i am peaceful in bed-----check with your doc about it......
my doctor put me on gabapentin for restless legs and feet---it has been like a miracle----for the first time that i can remember my legs and feet are quiet and relaxed at night----talk this over with your doctor----this med also helps a bit with the hot flashes.....
I've had a homeopathic pharmacist tell me to use Magnesium citrate for that. But i'm on Mirapex already, which controls that, and I don't want to stop taking it because it is one of the drugs that helps slow down the progression of PD.
