Nordic ice rub ordered from Burseth Farm.com helps with muscle pain.
I have hip problems too, limited mobility, limited range of motion, some discomfort. Doctors haven’t specifically diagnosed my hip condition but they have said my hip problems are a result of osteoporosis and due to my right leg being shorter than my left leg. The shorter leg has caused my hip to wear down as well as my knee which has been diagnosed as chondromalacia. I also have spinal/cervical stenosis and scoliosis all of which further affects my hip. I see an endocrinologist for treatment of osteoporosis but will get my doctor to look further into my hip problem. Exercise does improve hip mobility and ROM, but still limited so doctor may need to diagnose my hip problem and further advise me.
Many of you mentioned Tai Chi, Yoga and Boxing. All these are good for PD, but I know some of the movements and exercises are hard or can’t be done with hip mobility limitations, but any movements or exercises can be “modified” or “chair modified”. If you can’t do a movement or exercise, then modify it, however you can do the movement without discomfort. But keep on exercising, do what you can, when you can. Hip problems do make exercising harder, but with little or no exercise, hip problems only worsen. Always ask your doctor about which exercise programs are right for you.
I have tried boxing and yoga, and am now looking at TaiChi. I had good luck with physical therapy on my shoulder, so I think I will try that next.
Have you tried Thai chi? It's a gentler exercise and great for balance. Walking also is great.
I second what pluvgod said! See your doctor and try pain patches for help.
