What Is Your Earliest Childhood Memory?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I would like to take us away, on a mini-vacation of sorts. Back to eer-PD, back to your childhood. To get your mind off Parkinson's. Hence, my question.

My earliest memory, as a 3 year old, was of my grandparents farm. My grandfather always told me, if the chickens chase you and knock you down be sure you cover your eyes because they'll think they are seeds and try to eat them. Scary as hell for a little kid. Well the day did come when I was crossing the yard to go from grandparent's house to… read more

BethBoswellJacks Hi, there. Another lovely memory. I always liked riding on my dad's shoulders, too.

A couple of my earliest memories were when I was about two years old. One was sitting under my Grandma's kitchen table eating a stick of butter. I must have known I shouldn't be doing that or I wouldn't have tried to hide under that table. The other is when my uncle flew over the house in a small airplane and tilted the wings just for me. My Dad was in the Army and we lived with his parents and his two brothers. They spoiled me to death. But they told me when I was grown that when they took me for walks it would always attract the girls. lol

I have so many memories when I was young but the ones that stick out the most are either the fun times or the tragic times or near tragic times. One day my Mother was driving home in a car whose handle opened from the front and not the back. She stopped the car to take out the groceries and the car started to roll towards the bank and down into the River. My Grandmother was sitting in the passenger seat and couldn't reach the break. I was screaming at the top of my lungs, I would be about 3 or 4 at the time. My Mother heard the screaming and ran down the bank and with super human strength of a Mother managed to get the door open and the break on just before it plunged into the River. So scary. She was having trouble as she had to run to the front of the car to open the door and the car was rolling. A happy time was playing in the backyard of my Grandmothers house with my cousin in mountains of fallen leaves. What fun that was.

My earliest memory was when we lived in an apartment block and the neighbour upstairs and his wife had no children. He adored me and took me everywhere with him. He took me to see "The Greatest Show on Earth" and "Follow that Dream". He also took me to work one day to show me off and often we went shopping. Who today would ever dare let their little girl chum with an older man. It was totally harmless and I loved him.

My earliest memory was when our 2 ducks Quacky and Ducky, would chase us around the yard, so we would not their eggs. My parents didn't was any more ducks.
