I was dignosed with PD last year , My right hand which is affected by tremor is now curling. A few months later my hand started to feel like there was a tight rubber band which it will not let my fingers stay straight and they stays down in a curling position. I had my first shot of Botox in my hand it helped a little with the tightness but not for long. Does anyone have this problem?
My Son Chuck also has these same problems, is on alot of meds but the problems still exist as well as the stiffness and pain. He was appx. 47 when he was diagnosed also.God will get us all through this together. You are in my prayers.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member: I had the same problem that began about 18 months ago. My hands would sometimes curl so tightly that my wife had to help me get them straightened out. I reported this to my neurologist and she prescribed 20 mg., of Baclofen twice per day. Everything rocked along well for a few months, then the curling started again. Once more I called my neurologist and she bumped up the dosage to three times per day. All had been going well until the last couple of months and I am having intermittent sessions of my hands curling again. I called her today and her office squeezed me in to see her next week.

Hi there,
Hope all is fine with you. My mane is Shashi and I also suffer from Parkinson since Nov 2013. I have the curling issue as well but it is in my left leg toes. All my left leg fingers (I am not sure whether you call them toes or finger ππ as English is not my mother tongue ππ) have curled. I just massage them when they hurt.
This was her write-up and her name is Nancy Kaiser and she had put it around 11April on this site.
"What I do that definitely causes the toe curling to stop within a few minutes is this. Swallow a teaspoon of yellow mustard and stretch your foot. It sounds strange I know. I learned that when there is a long distance race they have tables along the route with bottles of water and packets of mustard for cramps.. I thought it was worth a try and to my surprise it worked. I hope this helps you. Please advise if u try it too.
Love. Shashi
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member,
I just got my second round of botox shots. The first round was for my spasming shoulder. The shots only worked for a week. The second round was for my left shoulder again and for the dyskenias in my mouth. This time, they worked as hoped! And, they are wearing off. So, this time , the shots have lasted some 35+ days. Now, I am under some stress right now,( babysitting 3 of our grandsons.....the youngest has earned the nickname, Wildman"! And he certainly lives up to it!) So I imagine that has something to do with the wearing off that I am experiencing.
My next shots are on August 3, so I will most likely revert to the pain I was experiencing. I am feeling twinges of wearing off on my shoulder, and I have forgotten how much pain I am in without the shots!
I will say that the shots hurt like the dickens! They stick some sort of electrode into the muscle and then shock it to provoke a reaction, then if they have the correct muscle, the shot is given through the sheath.
I think now that the pain is worth it if it works!!! Best wishes!
I had this problem, once I got onto sentiment it corrected itself. I worked my hand more by opening and closing it repeatedly to keep it so it didn't feel so tight
