Now and again my father's PD symptoms take a turn for the worse for a period before returning to the previous state. Example is he gets glazed eyes starts having halocinations and confusion. His speech is almost unrecognisable his sight and coordination are also affected. After a period it all clears but this can take 5 days. Does anyone know what causes this and what to do to stop it please any help would be appreciated.
oddly enough, stress and anxiety are a great trigger, when it comes to PD. These terms weren't even in my vocabulary prior to my disability in 2005.
Praying that you will find the answers and please let us know how it goes. Positive thoughts sent your way!
Could it be his medications? My father had PD and was on antidepressants which caused him to hallucinate ; he also had TIAs (small, mini strokes) with symptoms much like you describe. I also have PD and know first hand about being a care giver and a patient. Neither is easy! Blessings for you and yours.
Richard, This happens with my husband who has PD and also Dementia. His eyes used to get glazed and he would stare at the ceiling. He would be extremely hard to take care of and monitor because of his memory issue. He would disappear for as long as a week. When he did return I would give him a big hug and welcome him back. This has not happened in quite a while though and I believe it is because of the program he is now involved in. It's called Rock Steady Boxing. If he has a day like that now it may be for just one or maybe two. I believe that's because of this program and the fact that he looks forward to it so much. The friends that he has made and the exercises have helped him so much. See if this program could help your Dad. God Bless.
Could it be that your Father is having neurological changes. This behavior happens to my Husband but the symptoms don't last more then a day or two. We know that my husband has dementia with his PD.
