My doctor prescribed me an old antidepressant drug which has as sole side effect that it makes you sleep. It works for me and gives me 5 hours of sleep, 1 or 2 more if I am lucky. Normally 5 hrs is enough, I try to slumber peacefully listening to my favorite music and reading on my phone until it's time to get up. This drug is called "Trazolan" here in Belgium, is not addictive and I would highly recommend it. I used to stay awake for whole nights, sometimes several days in a row, and it's really debilitating. We PDers don't need that on top of the rest!

I have a sleep disorder anyway - but still have some problems with sleep. I found some Lavendar rub that I put on my temples and that helps some. I also have a rice bag I made with rice, flax seeds and lavender blossoms. I hear it in the microwave for 2 minutes and hold it. (Not in warm weather, of course) and that helps me relax and quickly fall asleep. My biggest problem is sometimes getting back to sleep after I have had to get up to go to the BR. So etimes I take the to E to reheat the bag and that helps. Other times I focus on a spot on the wall near the ceiling and speak to myself of how heavy my eyelids feel and how tired I am - very evenly and softly - and then I can fall asleep again.

Muscle relaxers work great for me. If I can't sleep it's usually because some muscles are very tired, sore or knotted up

Hi Ella i have tried many different things to help me fall into a deep sleep and the only one that sems to work for me is 10 or 15mg of tamazapam I take it nightly on a prescription issued by my doctor....I would recommend that you try this as it is an old drug that has been in use for a long time and other than getting up in the middle of the night and falling done if i m not careful it has no side affects..
