DBS Battery Change And Taking Antidepressant&blood Thinner.

Hi all my fellow PWP's
Hoping you could please help me
Is there anyone out there that is taking a blood thinner and if so are you also taking an antidepressant?
Does your blood thinner ever make you feel weak?
Is there anyone out there that has a DBS implant that has had a MRI done if so was there any complications with it being a metal device in an MRI machine.
Is there anyone out there that has had a DBS battery replacement if so did you get light sedation or full sedation? and was it a… read more

I have had DBS and it is safe for MRI. I think the older devices weren’t compatible.

I had dbs about 1 1/2 years ago I recently had an mri of my brain and back and all they did was turn off the dbs and back on after...no prpblem

I’ve had mri post dbs. They just need to make sure to turn the unit(s) off prior to the mri. Check with your providers to be sure mri is compatible with your equipment.

Jean,
They can’t do an mri after you’ve had dbs. They can do X-rays or ct scans. On future models of the dbs there may be a mode in which mri’s are allowed.
