My husband is starting the amino acid therapy soon. Is anyone familiar with this treatment?
We've gone off all the carbadopa kevadopa and are trying a regime of amino acids and vitamins. The Dr Hinz protocol--anyone else doing this or something like it?
I have found a doctor out here in Scottsdale Arizona who does amino acid therapy through an IV and takes Medicare! (Phone number can only be seen by the question and answer creators)
I came across information on another PD blog about Dr. Hinz and his amino acid theory for PD. The blogger provided a link to an article about the dr. on Quackwatch. -

For the folks who are using amino acids therapy, I am interested in hearing your thoughts on the therapy and how it may be working for you.
You should be aware of this if you are taking high dose B1.
Why are there so few of us using Amino Acids to control Parkinsons . From my viewpoint it appears to be working just fine . It uses the main component in Sinamet but controls the side effects ( I haven't experienced any) correctly.
I'm just speculating here but I would guess the 20 or 40 % is the potency n the 90 something percent was the purity . I'd like to believe these are all fairly pure products and not a bunch of filler… read more
I want to find a doctor who can wean my husband off all the drugs and try the amino acid therapy. Can anyone recommend someone? I'm very interested.
i just started a dew days ago under dr. Enescu's guidance. my side effects from traditional medications r very bad.
Lately I have been freezing and my legs move but not forward. It's like I'm standing there doing some weird dance. I was thinking of lowering my carbidopa/lepodopa. I take 3 pills a day. I hear that some people substitute amino acids for the carbidopa.
What are the amino acid that you take and how are the results. I have been on carbidopa/lepodopa for 10 years
Thanks for your help
Freezing is just another symptom of Parkinsons. The Ldopa should alleviate this if you’re on the right dose for you.
Has anyone heard of or know about amino acid therapy for PD? Read a snippet about it and want to find out more. It is supposed to help get the brain working again in the body-brain connection that relates to PD
Thank you for responding
I’m currently using the Dr. Hinz amino acid protocol but considering switching to Dr Costantini’s Thiamine therapy. Both involve B vitamins as part of the solution for Parkinson’s. Costantini’s sounds easier I think but I’ve been successful on Hinz? Any insights?
Here’s an update. The therapy has been amazing for me. I think if you’re early on and not taking RX you’ll realize benefits sooner like I did. I know three others 8+ years into the disease not… read more
My wife is just starting a program called Amino Acid Therapy which is run by Dr. Ross Stewart at the Body and Brain Wellness Center in Dallus TX. Anyone else tried this program? Would like to hear your experiences in it.
