Dry Eyes
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

Is anyone having issues with extreme dry eyes? I had had some issues along the way but recently my dosages of carbidopa levodopa has been increased at it seems to have worsened. I have tried lubricating drops but not really doing enough.

PD cause dry eye condition because our blinking is poor. we may use drops like restasis you need a prescription and an ophthalmologist evaluation. There is another solution is to put a small tube in one lacrimal duct it will produce accumulation of tears so the eye keeps lubricate both are good solutions .You may use artificial tears as another alternative.

Restless leg can be an independent condition alone. But it may appear in PD. Incidentally mirapex is actually one of treatment of choice and also an agonist for dopamine .Usually keeping extremities legs, foot warmer give some benefit to condition.A good idea is to check blood values of potassium, magnesium. Trial with B-12 also recommend

I was told by eye dr that my eyes are dry because my blinking is not so automatic since the onset of Parkinson's. Also, I tend not to blink at all when I am busily concentrating on something I am looking at.

I was advised to use a poultice in am and pm - but have bought a recommended eye mask instead. Also prescribed moisturising eye drops. At one point, one eye was streaming incessantly due to dryness, but this has cleared up now.

Never had this issue until I started having more issues with PD. Trying different drops. Sometimes they work somewhat. Need to go to Eye Dr. Seeing a lot of black spots now.
