@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, good thinking taking the magnesium for constipation; it definitely works for that. Just beware; my best friend is down to 85lbs after using magnesium and developing diarrhea.

@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, mine is definitely dystonia.

I use magnesium citrate for my heart dysthymia. It is needed as we get older because we don't absorb it like we did when we were young. It helps all muscles to work better, especially the heart which can have rhythm problems without enough magnesium. All of us over 50 could probably use it just to stay healthy over all. It is easy to use with probably good effect for all of us.

You have to remember, though, that tight muscles and muscles that are spasm are often very sensitive to the touch. So, Work carefully and be as gentle as you can at first. But often times getting results does involve some discomfort. Massage, where you move your fingertips, has to go in the direction of the muscle fibers. If you rub crossways across the muscle, you'll causes spasm. Straight inward pressure, with a little bit of wiggle, does not usually cause more spasms. REMEMBER - Always check with your doctor before you start any such thing that I've mentioned today.

In my practice I often had patients with such problems. The combo of no-twisting chiropractic and deep muscle pressure/massage (trigger point release, basically) worked wonders. There are many ways to do this muscle work at home. Nowadays I use a large S-shaped trigger point tool by Gideon Sports. About $20. It works very well at getting at those hard to reach places, with a little practice. Follow up with proper use of ice, and you may very well feel better!🙂
