I go to bed around 930,10PM--still checking the time at 1230AM or so. Some nights I believe I've gotten no sleep at all. Taking Melatonin has not helped. I need to take my first carbi-leva at 7AM and stay in bed, trying to catch some shuteye til about 9-930AM. Groggy all day. Drinking about 7 oz. of decaf in AM. (I call decaf "why bother?" LOL) Taking so many RX and Vitamin supplements already HELP!!!
My husband has PD and was having sleep issues. His levels had been tested for magnisuim and were in the range. However, he opted to take magnisium supplemnets and twice a day and it has helped tremendously.
My general Dr. wrote me a prescription for Trazodone, I take 2 100mg pills when I'm ready to fall asleep. Usually it works fast but I'm finding that some nights I will lie there for a hour before I fall asleep. Thankful it doesn't happen every night. Will bring this situation up with Neureulogist next time as this is a new symptom for me. I would highly recommend this medication if you can take it.
Like children, I guess we need routine. I say my prayers, do my spiritual reading, warm up my magic bag, prepare myself by taking my meds, washing my face, applying facial cream, floss and brush my teeth ..have a pee and head for bed.I read for about 10-20 minutes, put on my C Pap, shut off the light , flip over and go to sleep. If I have gone overboard on liquids I usually wake up around 5 or 6 to pee but I usually go back to bed and sleep until my alarm goes off @ 7 when I take my pills and vitamins.
I went to a session on Sleep given at my senior center which has a Parkinson's support group. The speaker was an outreach specialist from the University hospital. Here is the scoop! Don't watch the news before you go to. Sleep,, keep room cool, dont fight it. Get up if you can't get back to sleep.
Can you not get your doctor to prescribe you so mid sleeping pills. it made a huge difference to me.
