What Are Distonia Storms! Are They Part Of PD?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question đź’

I had a strange feeling in bed. A sudden jolt of "electric" current ran through my body. It lasted probably 10-20 seconds. It really hurt. I never lost consciousness and it was not an hallucination. A friend, who also has PD, said it probably was a distonia storm. Is that a thing? Is it a symptom of Parkinson's disease?

I don’t know what this is but sometimes when I am sleeping I feel something like this as well and all the muscles on my right side will contract for several seconds and then it is gone.

I will be seeing my neuro soon. I'll ask her about it and share it with y'all!

The electric current happened to me a few times, not a lot of pain, just a jolt. I didn’t know if it was associated with PD. But after reading what Jack said, I am suspiciously wondering

Startling and annoying. I hope there is something my neuro can do for it. Just when I think I couldn't possibly get anymore symptoms, another one pops up!
