When I walk there are times when I can't move. I stand there until the ability to move returns. Also, there are times, the phone would ring across the room, but I can't get to it in time to answer. @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member, if you Google Parkinson's freezing of gait, you will find many ways to combat it, but the best resource is Pamela Quinn's PD Movement Lab. I've found her ideas to be very helpful. Here's the link: https://pdmovementlab.com/
Time is an issue for me as well. As difficult as it was, I've had to accept that I no longer can accomplish anything as quickly as I once could. My Parkinsonian brain has "lost track of time", so I do the time dependent activities first. For example, if I have somewhere to go, I get dressed before I do anything else so I am on time and can avoid the stress associated with hurrying.
I head straight to the bathroom the moment I get the slightest urge. The frequent trips are annoying, but much better than not being able to make it in time. Do not get distracted along the way.
Changes in my meds have helped with my depression.
I have the freezing and must use a stand in place marching movement to get to where I can move/walk again. I told my neurologist and she said this is a good way to handle the freezing.
I will keep u in my prayers 🙏
Fount. Good info Thanks Ava
I try and continue working on positive thinking. Thanks
