rob has had a cough/cold w/phlegm (tmi) for a week now. He's slowly improving, but i was wondering if colds can be more dangerous if you have parkinsons disease?
I think it depends on the individual. My husband catches a cold frequently and it hits his chest and lasts for weeks and weeks, however, I rarely catch the germs he freely shares bless him.
Personally my PD symptoms lessen when I'm sick. I would think that with advanced PD were there are swallowing issues there might be an increase in pneumonia risk.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member I hope you feel better soon. The flu is the worst! Lots of rest and fluids...which I'm sure you already know that :)
Take care!
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member my husband rarely gets sick with a cold. God bless him I think he brings home the germs to me but doesn't keep any for himself. So generous LOL!
I seem to get colds more often now and they last longer often turning into bronchitis or pneumonia. I struggle to get well and am finding their is some over the counter medications to relieve symptoms I'm unable to take due to one of the PD meds I take so getting relief is difficult. For me, my tremors get much worse when I am ill.
