Types Of Care For PD Patients
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm a 63 years old single woman. I have two adult sons with their own family. I'd love to avoid living with them if I can and I'm considering moving into a senior living home with meals and house cleaning provided. Other than that, I don't need anything like feeding, bathing, medicine reminder; I'm pretty much able to do everything
When my symptoms get worse, and I need bathing and or feeding,.I'm wondering what type of facility I would need to move into, Assisted Living or Skilled Nursing… read more

Hi Carol, It is very hard to know what the best plan to make. There are board and care Homes and some senior housing is connected with a full assisted living dept. Go visit the different sites and ask lots if questions. I live with my daughter for now. I will most likely go some type of nursing home when I can't stay at home. Blessings sent your way.

Do you have caregivers helping you at home? We found this great program called the Waiver Program through the Pennsylvania Office of Aging that pays for caregivers (Many states have a similar program). There is a lot of paperwork up front, but once you are in it is easy to use. My wife gets 71 hours of care paid for through the program. Good Luck, Paul and Sucheta

Try Googling 1) MassHealth waivers, 2) Home and Community Based Services Waivers
