Weight Problems
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have lost a lot of weight in the last month. I am having problems swallowing at times and feel full fast so am not eating as much as I should. I have found I have to stay away from alot of Protien as it interferes with my medications. Has anyone else noticed a large weight drop?

Sinemet And Protein: Does Eating Protein Close To Taking Sinemet Reduce The Efficacy Of The Medication?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I've been told not to eat protein sooner than 45 minutes before taking Sinemet or 2 hours after taking it. I was reading the answers to
other questions on this site and some people seem not to have noticed any difference. I hope so because it's really difficult if you're
taking several doses during the day and trying to fit in 3 meals as well.

I take cardivelopa three times a day. I'm retired and my schedule changes from day to day. In the mornings I sat my alarm clock 45 min. before I plan on eating. Take the medication at a given time… read more

If You Are Taking Carbidopa-Levodopa (Sinemet) Could You Please Share Your Pill Schedule With Me?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am currently taking [[treatment:Sinemet:55d551c11fcaa39f0e[[phone:000079]] 25-100:]]. I am to take 2 pills 3x daily. However I have not been instructed as to how much time I should leave between each dose. Would anyone be able to share with me what your schedule looks like? I have been told that taking pills on time is very important. I do know the rule about protein-- Take medication 30 minutes before eating or 2 hours after eating.

What Symptoms Do You Have, If Any When You Have Eaten A Lot Of Carbs/ Sugar. Could Be Chocolate, Biscuits Etc.
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

Think about the symptoms you have day to day. Are any of them increased or decreased after eating certain foods. This could be fairly soon after eating or even an hour or so later.

My husbands blood pressure bottoms out after big meal or dense carbs. Has gotten so bad we’ve had to add flutocort (I think) to keep this from happening. Also when/if he takes CL can’t tell much… read more

Problems With Eating And Meds Absorption?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

Coordinating eating times and pill absorption seem to plague me despite my following 1 hr before 2 hrs after rule. No protein til evening etc. I dont know why my meds wear off with eating unless my stomach isnt emptying properly. Anyone else?

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member

You can eat what ever you want but if you take cl give it one hour before and after with protein

Does Diet Have To Be Low On Protein?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

How important is avoiding protein? Unfortunately it seems I prefer high-protein meals. I see on Parkinson’s websites that under high-protein diets Carbidopa Levadopa is not absorbed well. True??!? Please advise. Thanks!

Sinemet
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was told by my Pharmacist to take my [[treatment:Sinemet:55d551c11fcaa39f0e[[phone:000079]] 100 1:]] 1/2 tabs three times a day after food.

I have read in this post that one should take it 30 - 60 mins before food and preferably not with high protein diet.

I'm confused!!
When should I take the Sinemet? Before or after food?

I find the side effects of the quick release 100 to be nausea and drowsiness after taking it.

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member

I take three Sinemet 25/100' immediate release formula at 6am, 10am, 2pm, 6pm. They take about 15 to 30 minutes to flip the cycle switch
I then take two Sinemet 50/200 controlled release tablets at… read more

How Do People Deal With Eating Meals? Mostly Dinner, I Have Slowed Down And Food Gets Cold And Unappetizing.
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have slowed down my eating process mostly because I chew my food more to avoid chocking. Family and friends let me fill my plate first and I am still the last one done eating.
It is frustrating and embarrassing to me!

A MyParkinsonsTeam Member

I tried the utensils, and didn't feel that they helped. I try to time my medicine closer to my meals so when they kick in, my tremors aren't so bad.
