Because of side effects I was having; no appetite and head fog , she felt I needed to add more Carbidopa to my Sentimet. So I'm taking a additional 25 mg of Carbidopa to my 25/100 Sentimet.
I have not, but would be interested in knowing if the carbidopa alone is as effective.
Bruce. I'm sure a few months have passed since chatting about our issues. I need to back track and say the Carbidopa was added to help with the GI issues I was having. I felt as my food just sat on my stomach. I was not able to tolerate taking the Carbidopa . It did help with the GI issues but when I took the Carbidopa it made my head pound!! The Sentimet still makes me feel "drugged" , but it's been over a year now and it's a little bit more tolerable. What my doc did is she added the Sentimet SR (slow release). That has helped. I take one Sentemet 25/100 about 6am and then take a Sentemet SR about noon. My doc wants me to take another Sent, ent 25/100 about 4-5 hours later but I often forget to take it. My doc really pushes for me to take more of the medication but my thoughts are , I'd rather be stiff then drugged. LOL my doc ask what I meant by saying I felt "drugged"? Seriously?
My Dr. just did the same thing...I felt loopy with the Sentiment 25/100... I take the 25 mg carbidopa with it now but still feel loopy...I cut back to half dose...but it does not lower my symptoms. Not sure what to do.
Let me clarify I'm NOT taking Carbidopa alone. My doctor added 25mg of Carbidopa to my Sentimet 25/100. She felt like I needed more Carbidopa to help with the symptoms I complained of, my head feeling "loopy" and my surpressed appetite. This has made a big difference in both. What was interesting is that Sentimet cost me $20 for 3 months and the Carbidopa alone is $150 a month (with ins. Of course would be different with different ins.).
Me too.
