Have Been Wondering About Disability For PD.
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

My work days are getting to be a real difficult chore. From getting up in the morning, with not having much sleep, to making it through the day with the pain I have been having in my legs and feet, to having memory problems and many more. Can any one help me out with how the disability is done and if they were able to get it? And was it a long wait? These questions have been bothering me a lot. Help & Thank you

Your Neurologist needs to write a letter explaining about you and your PD disabilities. Then a visit to Social Security office. We had a very nice lady who worked for years at SS. She helped with all the paper work, explained that WE would be turned down. Don’t give up. We hired a Advocate ( this man had worked in SS for years) he retired to help people get their SS Disability faster. There are also lawyers that do this to. The usually cost more money for there help. But in our case, we still had 2 kids at home. I was working 2 jobs to keep us from sinking. It still took 1 1/2 years to get it. But you get all the back pay from when you applied. Also, depending on your age you are automatically put on Medicare. What a relief it was to finally have financial help. Good luck!!

You can apply for your disability your self. All you have to do is call the social security office and set up an appointment. Then go in for the appointment. In the time you are waiting for the appointment of you can get your doctors to write you a letter stating what all is wrong with you that will help too. Take those with you when you go to the social security office. They will probably send you to some of their drs but if they do make sure you keep those appointments. I helped people get their disability when I worked for the attorney. So what ever they want you.to you do you do it. How old are you. And where do you live.

shoot me a private message and I'd be happy to share my experience. I was approved in about 30 days without the help of an attorney
