Sinemet made me so nauseous and sick that I had to stop taking it. Has anyone else experienced this? I worry because my neurologist doesn't have me on any medication now. I do go to PT twice a week and that helps. But I fear a more rapid progression of symptoms.
Same for me nausea... so I cut them in half...Ex. Took 1/2 when I got up....the about an hr later took the other half...and counted this as my first dose...write it down...was able to tolerate it. When next dose was due took 1/2 pill then hour later took other half...no nausea. Did the same for next n last dose of day. I keep moving the time closer until after about three or four day was able to take a full pill 3x a day. That worked for me bc of all the research I read coba/loba was the most recommend drug for PD.
Tried the cracker...didn’t help me. Get pill cutter at pharmacy. Hope this helps.
Got to replace dopamine in your brain wit some med that will do that.
Blessings 🤗
Thank you for all the suggestions...but unfortunately nothing worked to stop the nausea with Sinemet! I could not even keep soup down! I literally went days without eating and was losing weight! Only option was to stop taking it. Not sure what my future holds!
Is there an alternative to Sinemet? You should ask your Doctor to prescribe you something else. You are between a rock and a hard place: your tablets are making you too sick but the alternative of .... no medication leading to faster deterioration is NO good either. Your Neurologist must find a more benign substitute. For the neurologist just to take you off medication is NOT the right answer!
My mom couldn’t tolerate it at all. She could barely get out of bed. She takes Amantadine now instead and it helps a lot without any side effects(so far). She’s been taking it since July 3x a day. Doesn’t help the tremor much but helped a lot with pain and muscle stiffness, and freezing. Her balance is still an issue but PT helped that some.
I get nausea from Sinemet, too.
It makes it difficult to feel like eating on a schedule so I have changed to 4 small meals a day.
