I joined this group because I have difficulty sometimes with figuring out how to manage my dad's issues as between the major stroke that left him left side paralyzed versus the PD. For example, he gets a great deal of sticky phlegm in the night from the PD. He tries to take small sips of water during the day to try and thin it and moisten his throat, but it is very difficult due to the stroke. We would give patients more water in the GT as long as he doesn't have a fluid restriction. If he could have water by mouth put 'lemon in it to drink even small sips.or hot ice tea but
not supper hot.If nothing by mouth get lemon swabs and swap good his mouth with that and keep his mouth moist. Thins secretions. 500cc every 8 hours extra water in GT if MD approves. Good luck
