Do you think this is Parkinson's related?
Tom, I would definitely get checked by your doctor in case you are developing an infection, as if not caught early could lead to pneumonia. The fact you notice it more when you lye down is because your breathing becomes even more shallow than when standing. PD can cause the chest muscles (and all muscles) to become physically weaker. Added to this is our older age as we don't exercise enough to strengthen and maintain the muscles. Doing deep breathing exercises can help but must be done regularly otherwise it will not achieve anything.
If you are not doing any exercising at all, I would encourage you to do so. Perseverance, though is critical. Do you have a Rock steady Boxing group you can go to?
Anytime there is a change that affects breathing t should be evaluated by medical personal
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member Stark Thanks for the input, now all I have to do is get the darned thing. It's been several weeks since I ordered it so it looks as though I'll have to get nasty with the supplier.
Do you have cough, or fever? Sputum? Sounds like you should talk with pcp? Be careful, could turn into pneumonia?! Stay safe!
You have a wise Dr. and a stinky insurance company. You do have Medicare, right? Are you living in the states?
Love, Jeri
