Is Anyone Dealing With Blood Pressure Problems?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

My husband has Parkinson’s and now we are dealing with low blood pressures and he passes out upon standing. He’s on Northera but it’s not working like we hoped. Praying for answers.

Yes, like Robin said, add salt to everything. He can also try Thermotabs, buffered salt tablets (get on Amazon).

This is exactly my husband. No cure no help, Just living life checking blood pressures all day long. I pray that one day this can be fixed.

I have had blood pressure since late 60’s. I worked out 3 times a week for an hour and a half for 20 yrs. Retired at 74 and due to osteoarthritis, could not do some of the workouts I had been doing. Now at 85 I still work out but not as much. My blood pressure goes way up when I go to bed. I was on 10mg now 20mg, but I still have to take an extra 5 during the day. It seems to be getting worse. I have a leaky heart valve, but the doctor say that isn’t causing the high blood pressure. He blames it on PD. I am concerned about my kidneys and I am being watched every 6 mo by a kidney specialist. My dad had heart issues for years and died at 70 due to his heart. I just wish it would get lower and stay.

Yes, my husband's blood pressure drops really low especially when the temp. is warmer. He takes no PD medications, so it's the PD itself. My husband chose not to take the dopamine meds, because they have way too many side effects. But, when my husband's BP drops, I get him to raise his legs in his recliner. I read this helps with low BP. I also give him plenty of liquids. I even give him a cup of sweet tea, because anything with caffeine helps bring his BP back up. It works too. Because the other day, I took him out for a little while and his BP dropped to 78/44. I did the things I wrote above and his BP was registering normal by the time we got ready for bed. So, it's a true challenge.
