Lately I have been waking up with my body drenched in sweat. Is this typical? Also my ring fingers have been locking up and my hands just hurt. Any suggestions?
I have experienced talking/yelling and moving in my sleep. Not violent dreams but doing things like playing soccer, talking around a campfire, etc. It would startle my wife and really dampen anyone's ability to sleep. Neurologist suggested try over the counter Melatonin 5 or 10 mg. Have been taking 10 mg melatonin (delayed release) and it really has helped me over the past several years. He was very familiar with my actions and gave me several alternatives, which Melatonin seemed to be able to provide some relief. I
You should talk to your physician to see what they recommend. There are so many medications we can be on, and thieir interactions are not always the same. I remember once I tried a medicine that caused me to fall asleep or become drowsy. Under certain circumstances, that would not be all that bad, but at that time, I was working, and falling asleep while driving on the freeway, was not acceptable.
Sometimes I feel like I am playing a game of chess with PD and the pieces are my body. One thing occurs, and we make adjustments to get that under control, only to have something else occur which has to be controlled, which changes the overall picture, and the cycle keeps on going. The journey at times can be as hard, if not harder on the ones we are closest to.
Good Luck and Stay Safe
My neurologist initially told me to try melatonin 5-20 mg. I tried 5 mg with minimal change, but when did 10 mg the dreams and acting out and movement has been put in check. I have been at 10 mg from my year. I have only had one episodes in past 4 weeks. I have also noted the dreams/actions do not occur as often when I am exercise more. I believe this is related to my being tired and falling to sleep easier,
My toes curl up in the night and really tighten, this has caused me to get up. This is directly related to not exercising. In my case. I hadn’t experienced this in a call months but got lax in my exercises routine recently and the toe curls came back with a vengeance. The pain can be excruciating, but subsides after stretching and exercise.
There are a lot of medicines and approaches out there, all we can do is find an approach that works for us. The key to this, in my opinion, is a Neurologist/Motion Disorder Specialist who knows you and cares. I have been fortunate in this response in that I believe my neurologist does care.
I would be hesitant to try any medicine or routine without running by my physician.
Good Luck and Be Safe
Yes I believe it is the C/L that causes the dreams. My toes on my right foot curl and a podiatrist told me too pull them straight and its working.
If they are Nightmares you wouldn't remember them sometimes when yoyu first wake up you may remember something. Because I do if I I am thinking about them. Most of the ones I remember I am trapped in a building and couldn't get out The Menontin 5mg does help but not always.

Hi Ice,
I’ve had the dreams 4 nights this week. They’re exhausting. Nothing changed with the medication
