My hubby is having terrible time eating. He stops chewing, like brain freeze then sometimes can’t swallow. His movements trying get a food on his fork are difficult. If he has food in his mouth will stop chewing. Like he can’t do 2 things at once. Plus he has hard time biting iff sandwich or toast. I cut all his food. Does anyone else have problems eating?
My husband went to an ENT. They found a physical problem. You may want to do the same. They recommended he tip his head up to swallow and to speak.
We purchased weighted silverware and other “tools” from Amazon.
So sorry. My husband mainly started ghis about 3 weeks ago. It seems like his brain is freezing up. We call it grain freeze. Somethings he can’t get the sandwich out hand snd I have get it. But it comes snd goes. This is a terrible disease. 🥲
My husband is beginning to have the same problems.I think his comes from keeping his eyes closed while trying to eat
He has trouble getting his food in his fork also these symptoms
Just started about 3 weeks ago
He is also afraid of chocking
So we are having trouble getting
Him to eat much he is 6 ft and only weighs 155 lbs he is in the last stage of parkinson so I guess it’s all related to PD but it is scary
God Bless your family and keep on fighting
Yes, some problems eating, but especially taking medications. This makes things especially tough. I did a swallowing study and therapy which helped, but I still find myself having to modify my diet.
Has he had a swallowing test done by a speech therapist? It is an extensive test and a swallowing expert will evaluate what the issues may be and develop a strategy. It did wonders for me.
