I have been doing Rock Steady Boxing for six weeks and it has been a wonderful experience. Half of the class is female and some are better boxers than many of the men. The coach is amazing. The workouts are geared to your level of ability. Not only is it a good physical workout but the support from the group is wonderful. I have noticed a significant improvement in my strength, flexibility and stamina. I would highly recommend it to anyone regardless of your current physical condition.

I do! Its a great workout . The quick motion is supposed to be helpful for us. Also, they work with you on strenghtening, balance and coordination, etc. Everyone in the class suffers from Parkinson’s , so youll meet lots of others who understand just what you’ re dealing with! Good luck !

This is my 3rd year doing RSB and I love it. It is the most exercise I have ever done in my adult life and believe I would not be as mobile now without RSB. Most healthy 50-year-old people may not be able to complete our workouts. I do an hour 3 times a week and am exhausted when I go home. Plus, I have made some awesome friends. We share things like we do on this site and support each other in times of stress. The classes are not entirely boxing. We do core workouts, Tai-Chi, Aerobics, Balance and posture focused items along with many other PD items we have identified. If a person wants to work on something, it can be worked on in a class if it is appropriate for others with PD. We did fall prevention and how to get up after a fall if you are near different items and such. I would recommend RSB for any PD patient. There are levels depending on the functioning level of the person. Wheelchair people can participate ev I am much stronger since I began attending this program.

I’ve been doing RSB. For about a year. It’s the best thing I could have done! I was a mess. I couldn’t get out of a chair without help, I couldn’t roll over in bed without sitting up, and it took me several attempts to sit up. I had given up driving, because I was a major hazard. Now I can pop out of a chair, out of bed, and I drive.

There are several people in our class and they are all at different ability levels. Everyone is accommodated. Everyone is encouraged, and everyone has improved.

Thank you for your answer. My balance is horrible and walking is not always easy due to the pain in my right foot. I refuse to become an old grandma in a rocking chair!
I was just diagnosed April 2022 and I want to get better-not worse. There’s a place about 25 minutes from me that teaches this. I will definitely look into it. Thanks again. Have a wonderful day!
