Donna I grate turmeric root on many foods including rice, beans etc. My family likes the taste and it is very good for you. I read to always add some black pepper as it increases the value of the turmeric.A lot of supplements do contain black pepper.
Natural spices like cinnamon, cumin, and cayenne are also good for you.

More or less within months of diagnosis for PD (8/14/2014 almost 9 years ago) I started adding supplements.
Honestly, most are not based on any real science but I reasoned that if they weren't toxic or causing harm to other parts of my body and you can afford to pay for them...then why not?
D3, Tumeric Circumin, CoQ10, Lion's Mane and Turkey Tail, Coconut oil, Flaxseed oil, B1, B23 both sublingual and capsule, Magnesium Glyconate, Glucosamine, L-arginine with Ornithine.
I can't tell if any of them have helped slow disease or lessened impact of disease except Magnesium in any form improves bowel performance and constipation is a big issue with PD. But beware, too much Magnesium can cause rapid HR with vigorous cardio. Two much D3 can promote kidney stones.
L-arginine is to help with sex drive and performance-not sure if it really makes a difference but at age 69 I'm still active and enjoying intercourse with my spouse.
I am not on Dopamine and tremor and other symptoms are only slightly worse than at diagnosis.
Obviously supplements didn't slow my disease but they haven't hurt or speeded up decline either. They are expensive.
Adding hard cardio to my exercise (1 plus hours almost every day of breathless cycling or spin or hiking 6K peaks near my home) probably helped to slow the disease the most along with changes to diet, reducing carbs to the lowest point possible and practicing Keto with plenty of veggies, some fish and red meat have probably made the greatest impact to slowing progression.
Not a double blind study but appears to work for me.

Took supplements for years (multi vitamin, B, C, D) and not sure that they helped. After stopping them, have felt no difference.

HOWEVER! if you struggle with UTI and/or Constipation - keep reading......3 years ago the urologist recommended daily dose of D-Mannose and Magnesium to combat the constant UTIs - have not had a single UTI sense. Also, Neurologist recommended mixture of (1/2c each) applesauce, prune juice, oat bran - eat 2-3 tablespoons each morning. This has completely cleared the constipation (previously doing an enema each day). What a relief!

Look up on youutbe Fighting Parkinsons Disease with Vitamin B1: interview with Author Daphne Bryan. It is using a high dose of B1 thiamine. I've been doing it for about 3 weeks now. There is a book that details the whole story. I chose 100 mg B1 that dissolves under my tonue. My non motor symptoms have greatly improved, like fatigue, sleeping and voice. it may take a few months before motor symptoms are improved. My wife says I am moving better. Anyway the book is on Amazon for under $10 and the vitamins are $7 for 100. I take 3 pills a week. The book is an easy read and gives great detail.

I recently starting taking Tumeric. It is suppose to be good for all of us. Search Tumeric and Parkinson to investigate how they are correlated.
