Any recommendations for places to go and how to have a PD friendly trip?
If you are flying ask for a wheel chair to get from lounge to plane. I found air port staff most helpful both internationally and locally..
Different people like different things. Myself I like variety. (Yes, I have been to Las Vegas) My international trips have taken me to Europe 9 times. I have been to Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, & New Zealand. .
I was diagnosed in 2006. I thought I would never travel where I had to fly again. How would I get to the plane? How could I sit that long? and 101 What ifs?? Well I have been to Thailand twice, which included switching planes in Japan. The first time I went alone. If it would not have been for the wonderful wheelchair assistance people I would have never been able to do it. They make sure you make your flight and even to the bathroom if needed (no they don't go with you). I have flown to New York City, San Francisco too. You just make sure your meds are on time and go. My children live in those cities and I would not have seen where they live if I would have choose not to go.
You do what is best for you and your abilities. But I would encourage you to go. What could be worse stay home and shake?
I agree about the flying. I will not do that. I have been told that a cruise is the best option. I live i the Northeast and can drive to the start point of the cruise at some times of the year.
I say to my husband...don't plan to take me on any trip that requires an airport. Layovers and plane and gate changes are too much for me. I say if you plan a vacation with a PD spouse..drive...don't fly. Sterling.
