Mirapex ER
I am on 1.5 mg of Mirapex ER. I had to do the build up dosing so I have only been on the full dose for about a week. I have seen a lot of improvement in my walking and balance. I am also less tired and less stiff. However my tremor in my leg has not decreased at all and sometimes actually seems worse. Has anyone else experienced Mirapex not controlling tremors? Also does Mirapex ER get more effective over time?
Treatments for PD are not very good at reducing the tremor, sadly. I take Sinemt and Requip XL. At best the tremor is dampened down - mostly it is still there but I can reduce its impact by using mindfulness techniques. The rigidity and slowness of movement however are much improved.
Mindfulness is a meditation technique. You concentrate on The Breath. You allow thoughts to enter your head but you do not follow them. It is very relaxing and I can dampen down my tremor prior to going to sleep. If I wake early I use the breathing techniques to remain calm. @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member. In my experience Mirapex diminishes in strength over time. I have taken it for about 5 years now. I am, right now, in the midst of switching from Mirapex to Requip. I'm dreading the adjustments my body will have to make. I will keep you posted. Sterling
Thanks Jenny. Can you please tell me more about the mindfulness techniques or suggest a book?
I appreciate your answer.
INTERESTING observation on your part - just a little "family group study" - looks like tobacco helped them?
