Do any of you with PD have trouble with dry mouth, dry lips and dry, itchy skin? All of these have gotten much worse and more noticeable in the past year.
Itchy skin started a month ago. Not fun. It's the worst at night. I take benadryl when I can't take iit! It helps!
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member. A while back you asked a question regarding dry mouth and itching skin. Yes, I have that plus my eyes get very dry. I have an illness called Zjogren's Syndrom that can also affect people who have another autoimmune disorder, i.e. Parkinson's Disease. Zjogren's can also cause swollen glands in your neck and face, painful stiff joints, etc. It can be detected with a blood test but usually doctor's don't order that test as they are not looking for it. It can't be cured so they just treat the symptom's. You may want to check into this.
Biotene is a good product to keep your mouth moist. Ask your Dentist...helps maintain your gums so your teeth stay put.
Im noticing lot at night dry itchy skin, use gum help on my dry mouth .
I have found Cetaphil products work well for me, especially when I remember to use them. They have a liquid cleanser to use instead of soap, a moisturizing cream, and a mouth rinse for those with dry mouth. I recommend them to anyone with dryness problems. You can find Cetaphil pretty much every where drug store items are sold, including Walmart.
