Has Anyone Tried Acupuncture For The Rigidity Of The Muscles?
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question 💭

My husband suffers from stiffness and rigidity due to PD and he also has arthritis. He is looking at getting acupuncture as he has been told that it would help with his symptoms. Wondering if anyone has tried acupuncture for any of these symptoms?

Acupuncture twice a wee for Bruce. If you have it tell your acupuncturist to do the Basal Ganglia Point. Our fellow has 3 Parkinsons sufferers and it helps them all.

I tried acupuncture for about 4 months but it did not help any of my PD symptoms. About 3 months ago I started weekly massages with a massage therapist with quite a few medical certificates. It has helped with stiffness and pain relief. It is cheaper than the acupuncture. I exercise daily plus working out at the local Senior Citizens pool 4 or 5 days a week but the massages have had a positive impact on my pain level. I am sure it is not for everybody but it has helped me.

Do not have acupuncture from a medical doctor - check out a Chinese medical doctor they know far more - we lived in China for 2 years. Bruce has accu 2 -3 times a week for energy and the right specialists will know where to place the needles - i.e. to stimulate the Basal Ganglia.
We found a Chinese trained, native Chinese, who is also a Doctor and bulk bills for acupuncture here in Australia. Other Countries may be different in that you may not be able to bulk bill. He also taught us Tai Chi.

I tried acupuncture back when my tremors were really bad. The doctor tried to insert a needle in my right arm (my tremors were all on the right side). I had a particularly violent tremor while he was inserting it, and it hurt a lot, and that spot continued to bother me for the next year. Needless to say, I never tried acupuncture again. Anyway, my tremors are quite well controlled by my Meds.
