I love this site I don't feel alone anymore. We are all one big PD family here. I am always here for you..😀
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member,
I don't ask,"Why me?" I do ask "Why not me"? I think that we could very well have been "chosen" to teach. I believe that there is good to come of this, really!! We can teach those who don't have the disease, what it's like to constantly struggle with one problem after another.....and to do it with honest, real feeling and dignity and humor! Often, it's our " cracks or flaws" that make us real human beings!
So, allow your disease turn you into someone who is real!!!
Be a strong shoulder for those who are weak, be that listening ear that bears what is said and what isn't!! Be that soft spot for someone to fall on. And be kind to yourselves and to others!
Blessings to you!
Pam
I have no idea but it could be hereditary, my maternal grandfather had what they called shaking palsy. Back in 1920's and 1930's. He died in the 30's before I was born. One of my mom's sister's was diagnosed with PD. My mother was never diagnosed but had some symptoms similar to some PD symptoms. She was diagnosed with polymyalgia, a disease of the connective tissue. I'm not sure if it was corrrect diagnosis. I was diagnosed in 2013 but had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia back in 1995. I believe that was a misdiagnosis. At the time, my doctor said it was fibro. but it could be PD but we aren't going to go there. At the time, I was not having any tremor's mostly just odd pain. Also, I had other symptoms but I just ignored them, thinking it was just me and I shouldn't complain as everyone else probably felt the same way.
Hi. I think the question is trying to ferret out a pattern, a cause. As far a i know I'm the first person with parkinsons in my family. The original, undiagnosed symptoms started at age 37. The tremors that led to my offical diagnosis was at age 39. The genetic aspect worries me.
I am always tired. I nap a lot . My sleep is ok but finding myself waking up with a lot of back pain and joint pain through the night . When I take my morning dose of my medicine takes about an hour to kick in and I feel little better but still have pain. How about you ?
