I lived with Chron’s Disease from the age of 14 until I turned 44, 30 years of living with cramps, gas, diarrhea, running to bathrooms felt like I couldn’t go anywhere without knowing ahead of time if a bathroom would be available or if I was out, where one was! In 2010 I had emergency surgery because my colon was falling apart. After having colon, large intestine and part of my small intestine out as well and may I point out having a colon osocoapy done every year for my last 10 years of having Chron’s. Upon recovering from my illeosteomy surgery I noticed my left being stiff and sore, hard to move and my wife noticing my left arm didn’t move when I walked, just hung there like it was broken. I asked my surgeon if they may have pinched a nerve possibly. Upon seeing 3 movement disorder specialist, they all said you have Parkinson’s diseases ! At 44 years of age I thought I’m not old! That can’t be??? They asked if I ever noticed having vocabulary recall issues? YES I said! How long they said? 4-5 years now and it’s been worsening. They said that was when you came down with the disease and your Chron’s was masking it until now. In 9 years the disease has spread throughout my whole body now affecting my brain plus being on Amantadine, Siniment and Ropinorle since day one the long term side effects from the meds are worse than the disease it self! My gastroenterologist had me taking Prednisone off and on for several years which now has turned my spine to mush! I am infused together with titanium plates, pins and rods from the second disc in my neck to the bottom of my spine! Numerous surgeries And some to actually take out 7 inch sections of titanium rods that just literally fell out from my bones being so soft and the shaking of the Parkinson’s disease. I take enough pills each day to kill a horse! 4 of them alone are just for pain, 10 Gabapentin pills, each 300 mg, 6 Tramadol each 50 mg, 3 Cyclobenzaprine,10 mg each and Oxycodone as needed!! Did you get that ?? “As needed” I usually take one each night when I go to bed, sometimes I have to take another one half way through the night. When CVS runs out of medication, they call me! Lol
I tried medical Marijuanaa for 2 years and all it did was make me high and screwing up my balance issues even more! But hey there is a silver lining here.... I have not been sick at all in years! I forgot to mention numerous abdominal hernias and Prostate Cancer!
What can I say I was the runt of the litter! Youngest of 4 siblings. Hey you have to make jokes about it, what else can you do?? But I don’t have it bad, it’s the kids born with Cancer or other illnesses who never had a chance in life and pass away to young.
