My husband does not want to take meds due to reaction to amantadine where legs swelled. What does sinemet do for you? Concerned that he might enjoy life more if not so tired physically and could walk at a "normal" speed
I started as soon as I was dx I trust my neurologist who explained the good and what to look for helps that I have four friends in my small circle who have been dx. Posting on this board is real help
PatMcPharland... I hope that your hubby will not continue to be resistant to medications. They can be very helpful for many of the PD symptoms. My sister with severe PD will not take medication for anything.....says she is "allergic" to everything. She could have been helped with a lot of her symptoms,I would think". I don't think anyone needs to take medicine for every little thing. Hopefully things will be better for you.
Each day is a new normal speed. My family grew very impatient with the slowness and unsteadiness of my walking. Finally, it got to where it was a burden on them for me to go anywhere with them. Please accept his walking speed as normal for each day. At least he is still able to walk. Count your blessings and give polite encouragement. Medication will not speed up movements. Do a lot of research to help him as an informed advocate.
Look up Dr Marty Hinz. It's a more "natural" way to treat Parkinsons using amino acids. Many people are doing fine on it ,including myself , but you won't hear about it from your Dr. .????? Over 200 Drs trained in it globally. It's best to start off with it but that's hard if you never hear it mentioned? I was one day from starting Sinemet when I discovered it. Other people on here are using it also. Take a look! It's not a cure ,but from what I've read of Meds ,it may be much safer in the long run. Give it a look n best of luck
My doctor said it is the gold standard also.
