Any tips on dating with PD? I'm single and the thought of dating now that I have PD is a bit scary because I can't hide or control my symptoms. Any recommendations?
I was all set to start dating, but I talked to my neurologist first and she reminded me how bad it could be for my health if my wife found out :)
All kidding aside I wish you the best of luck. My advice for what it's worth (not much) to people about dating has always been the same no matter their health. Don't go looking, let it find you. Get out there and do the things you love to do. That gives you the best chance to meet like minded friends, then anything can happen from there.
Good luck!
I assumed after my divorce I would date but never be serious with anyone, mostly because I was afraid that I wouldn't find someone who would want that extra burden. But then when I wasn't looking for love, it happened- I was just dating and working and doing the things that made me happy- being an open book and keeping a positive attitude and kevin fell in love with all of those things- so it wasn't scary- it was odd a few days whilev he wrapped his head around it- I had him watch "the PD you don't see" and so far all is well
I meet my wife on online dating , we chattered for around about 3 months then I asked if she wanted to meet for a drink one afternoon to which she agreed to , But I had told Lisa that I had PD and sometimes it gets the better of me . She that it wasn't a problem and just relax I'm sure it wont spoil the afternoon also she said she has a disability with fibromyalgia might be spelt wrong . So we were on the same level . So there is someone out there on these sites but its finding them .........
I tried online match makers. As soon as anyone finds out about the PD they bolt. If you are going to try it I'd do my best to hide it. I tried being upfront, it doesn't work. I think giving someone the opportunity to like you first is more productive.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member. Hi Lori. How do you go about meeting people
…men particularly? No need to make a big scene by telling him about your PD right away. After you have met him and you like each other..that is the time to tell him. Also would you be interested in someone who also has PD? We don't necessarily have a dating service here but there are men out there who are looking for a relationship. But let it be known that you would like to be in a relationship. But see what happens. We have Possible Matchmakers who's on our team. Let's see what they can respond to. My best wishes Lori. Sterling
