Has Anyone Felt An Increase In Their Desire For Sweets? Is It Because Of PD Or Medications Or Maybe Just Age?
Now that you mention it I also have cravings for sweets. I buy a lot of fruit to help sustain my cravings. I think all three of the above are probably the culprits because before PD I was more prone to salty treats such as Brazil nuts and chips/popcorn.
I definitely crave sweets more! I have always liked them but now its like sugar is a drug and I must have it! I do take Mirapex but don't feel that it's a compulsive problem. I feel like it is that good feeling sugar gives that makes up for the loss of dopamine (just a laywoman's guess). I do much better when I eat well and get a balanced nutritional diet. I think my daily dose of dense nutrition in the form of Shakeology by Beachbody. It has helped me tremendously with constipation and at the same time helps my gut microbiome with prebiotics and probiotics. I have more energy and less food cravings. I became a coach with Beachbody to buy it at a discount.
Yep...I can relate........I hope it stops soon!
I am a treat person by nature so always have loved sweets not sure it is PD but just me.
