It's a perfect time to spread PD Awareness.I would like people to know that Parkinson's is not only "geriatric disease " Pd can affect young people in their 20s,30s......Also, Parkinson's is not always about the "shaking"The general population always associate PD with the tremors
I guess I would have to say that the people with Parkinson's are more than the symptoms - that although sometimes a person may appear to be hopelessly disabled, that there is always a person inside, still thinking and feeling, although we might have difficulty seeing it and communicating with the person behind the symptoms.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member and others The group in Peterborough UK are having many events for Parkinson's awareness week. including a whole day of demonstrations - TaiChi, Vivacity dance, Nordic walking, Research and a Carer's story. All free and lunch as well. As a member of Parkinson's UK; I receive 2 Magazines. One on research, and wow, are they putting a great deal of effort into research. Also one on personal stories.
I personally have had some problems with a diagnosis. I have now been referred to Addenbrooke's hospital to see a more specialised neurologist. I am extremely lucky to have excellent support for the anxiety and depression I have and have also been referred to Guy's Hospital in London for specialist dental work.
@A MyParkinsonsTeam Member; I so appreciate your answer. I think the issue you address is true of all people with specific handicaps...we seem to think they are not just like us inside in most things. Yes, they think, they feel, they cry, laugh, love and have sense of humor, esp so when one judges them by their looks, their speech or any other thing that is not perfect! You have maybe experienced some of that pain...and for that I am sorry. One of the reasons I like MPT is that ALL these special people understand all these things, have compassion, and truly know what life is like with PD. I find their wisdom and personal experiences very beneficial.
Sometimes I have trembling but I try to reign. I think it's stress
How do I have a pleasant time then I am healthy I do not know why that is so
Sometimes i feel like this disease is forgotten about and after 200 years or so you would think there would be a cure or at least something better in the way of medication.i starting to think that it is a money making gimmic just like other serious illnesses such as cancer and so forth
