I'm Newly Diagnosed And Recently Started Carbidopa-levidopa 25_100 . It Wears Off An Hour Before Next Dose Due. Any Advice?
Only been on any medication for 2 weeks and taking every 8 hours (so 3 times a day). After 6.5 to 7 hrs I start to feel pretty bad and shakey inside. I'll ask my doctor of course but live in Houston so couldn't reach today (city is flooded and didn't feel this warranted an emergency call). Wondered if anyone's on line who has advice as I'm dreading this evening and morning. Also - how long does it take to properly work? I've seen a lot of improvement (I can shower without fear of falling and do… read more
I take caribidopa/levidopa 25/100 1 and a half tabs 4 times a day. and it can take up to a month for it to start working. at least it did for me. i still fall and have rigidity, im not sure how i would feel with out it anymore... good luck to you! i start mine 8am, 12pm, 4pm, 8pm nothing in the middle of the night
I take it4 timesa day 8 ,12,4,,8 along withentacapone 200 mg 4x a day . My doctor added the second one the next time I saw him . But when you take it you have to wait the 1/2 hour before you eat and 2 hours before you take the next pill to eat or else the protein in the food robs the brain of the dopamine we need . When I did all of this I have great results. I don't drag my leg and don't feel the change in between the meds ! Keep the faith ! ❤️
I take Carbidopa/Levidopa 25-100 2 pills 3 time per day. 1 is standard release, and one extended release. I also take Amantadine 100mg, and Selegiline 5mg both twice a day. These two are to extend the durtation of the effects of the dopamine, and to smooth out the peeks and valleys from the dopamine.
I take 125/100 every 3 hours (6,9,12,3,6,9) and supplement them with 3 125/100 ERs. That's extended release -- they release the medication slower and it lasts longer. It was my main problem after being diagnosed and it probably took a year to get me stable. Occasionally I have your problem but my bad time only lasts about 15 minutes. I can handle that. Everybody reacts differently so you have to work with your doctor. Hang in there and don't get discouraged. Lots of hugs... .
If it's wearing off too quickly even need to either up your dose or ask your medical team to add entacapone or stavelo to your medication these are lengthing drugs they make your levodopa last longer generally about 6 hours per dosage.
I Am Just About To Start Carbidopa Levidopa.
