My husband has PD and Dementia. His memory is also getting worse. He acts like a 5 year old when we go to the store. He disappears in the store when riding the cart. He will forget what he is looking for. It is taking up all of my time watching and caring for him. Dementia is a very cruel disease. To watch someone you love deteriorate like this is heartbreaking. The only thing we do together and really have fun at are his classes with Rock Steady Boxing. His PD has improved so much but his memory has not. Have add you to my team @A MyParkinsonsTeam Member. Hope you don't mind.
Yes, my husband has PD and dementia. It is very sad. He was the bureau Chief for the Associated Press for Northern New England and loved to read! He doesn’t read much anymore. We were involved in Rock Steady classes and song & movement’ class , but the lockdown from Covid 19 we stopped. Larry does take the exelon patch and namenda for cognitive decline. It did help . Walking helps also.
Yes, my husband who has Parkinson's for 27 years has problems with dementia which has become progressively worse just this past year. He was on Exelon patch for over 6 years which slowed the progression. He has trouble dressing himself as he forgets how to put on his T-shirt or puts on two pairs of underwear thinking he has his underwear and pants on. I now try to attend different support groups in the community and educated myself on how to best help him and keep my sanity.
It is such a terrible disease.......Hugs
Thank you for adding me to your team. My husband and aunt have Parkinson’s. She has the dementia part of it. He does not at this point.
