Tightning Of Throat
A MyParkinsonsTeam Member asked a question đź’

I have a question. The Last few weeks I noticed as My medication Wears off that my throat gets tight in it's a little bit hard to swallow But once the medication kicks in I No longer have that sensation It has got me a little scared. I'm counting the days down to the 20th for my DBS surgery and hope that this will be an issue that will be resolved With the surgery.
I guess my question is this normal or has other people experienced this and has it gone away after DBS surgery?

When this happens try to check your blood pressure.

I too have difficulty swallowing. Have had PD for 12 years and have had my esophagus dilated twice in the past year.

Not painful at all because you are under anesthesia. Even when you wake up there is no pain and wonder of Wonders you can swallow without difficulty and not think you're going to choke to death. Personally I would not do DBS because it doesn't take care of the autonomic symptoms such as difficulty swallowing constipation gastroparesis muscle weakness urinary problems and on and on. It only helps with the Tremors and I could live with that rather than have brain surgery. I have two friends who have had it in both had bad outcomes.
